This time next month Christmas will have been and gone for another year. I’ll let that sit with you for a minute.

What’s the overriding emotion? A stomach clenching “oh no!” not yet – I am not ready? or a sense of calm – you’ve got this! Which one are you experiencing? Maybe you are somewhere in-between and that’s ok too.

If you are sitting there calmly, we would love to hear how you broke it down to achieve your list (yep permission to gloat).  If you are the sitting there with heart racing, wide-eyed, stomach clenched, take a deep breath and read on.

We published a 12 point Christmas Holiday Checklist for Business, if you didn’t see it, take a moment now to read it, its ok,I’lll wait here.

That overwhelming list of things to do, once broken down become achievable.

When you have a small business it is easy to get caught up “working IN your business” rather than “working ON your business” but it is super important not only for your business growth but your sanity to make time to work ON your business.

Here at 6R we haven’t checked off all the items on the list and that’s ok, because we HAVE set time aside to do what we haven’t and we HAVE done those that were time sensitive.

What does that look like for us?

Christmas Cards

Christmas cards have been designed and ordered and due for delivery today. Australia Post has a Christmas 2015 page that cover all that you need to know. Basically, we grabbed the Final Posting dates for Christmas and worked backwards. We decided on a Christmas Theme & design the cards and had them printed at.

Christmas Party

The lovely thing about being a small business is that you can do what you like. For us, we are combing our “Hack Day” and “Christmas Party” with a “Beautification & Drinks Sesh”.

We have booked a meeting room in the city and made a plan of topics we need to cover such as our marketing plan &  business goals. There will be reflecting on the year and taking those learnings to make for a new and improved year ahead.

We have booked in for a pamper session in the afternoon at The Four Seasons Spa and drinks afterwards at Cafe Sydney to celebrate the year that was. {follow us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram for all the behind the scenes action}.

Schedule blog posts, Social Media and Newsletters

While we will be taking a physical break from Christmas Eve to the 11th of Jan it does not mean that we vanish entirely. You will still find us out and about in the digital space, so make sure you say hi!

Branding

If you have popped into one of our social channels today you may have noticed we look a little different. A little more “Christmassy”. We hope you like it 🙂

Promotions for Christmas

As we are not a “product” based business and know that many of our clients have a lot on their plate at this time of year, it is not appropriate for us to run a promotion at this time. But come the new year – watch this space! We will have some real treats for you.

Review Subscriptions, Cash Flow & Emails

While I have lumped these together here, this is something that you really want to set aside time to do and do each one separately. It will take longer than you think! and you may need a glass of wine at the end of it…..#justsayin

Let people know & Team Cover

If you get an email from us today, you will notice that we have done just that, we have created a new email signature block that ties into our Christmas design theme and states how long we will be away for. If we were going to have cover over this period we would add this in here, but we have decided this year that we are all taking a break.

That’s it! That is where we are at. While there still is a lot to do, it is not overwhelming. It is in doable chunks and the best bit is that we can end the year on a high, rest & recharge, ready for 2016!

If there is anything you would like to add (or gloat) pop down to comments and let us know!
