Jeans for Genes day is on this Friday – August 7th. Jeans for Genes is the iconic fundraising campaign of Children’s Medical Research Institute. Each year, Australians unite by wearing their favourite jeans and outdoing each other with crazy denim outfits, and donating money or purchasing merchandise, to support genetic research. Every dollar raised on the day helps scientists at Children’s Medical Research Institute discover treatments and cures, to give every child the opportunity to live a long and healthy life. Being such a great cause and one we feel passionately about we thought we would celebrate our love of all things denim.
A staple in most wardrobes with the magic ability to be dressed up or down, denim is the lynch pin in effortless dressing. To help you navigate the current denim trends we have broken it down into the style leaders this season.
Perfect with a heel to elongate the leg or dressed down with sneakers or tucked into boots, the skinny jean has become a classic style that continues to trend. Whether in White, Black, Grey or every shade of indigo, this jean shape flatters most figures with the ability to slim the silhouette. Who doesnt want that?
A relaxed leg shape that is more of a classic cut, the boyfriend jean looks best cuffed and worn slouchy. Wear with heels and a sparkly top for evening or ankle boots and a denim shirt for day (yes, double denim is back!!).
The newest jean silhouette brings back the 70’s vibe. Best suited to those that are on the taller side or for us vertically challenged worn with a platform heel. Best worn with a classic white shirt tucked in and your favourite heels, throw on a blazer for an instantly chic smart casual look for day.
Brought back from the 90’s, the denim shirt is now a hip addition to your wardrobe. The key to pulling off this double denim look is to not match your denim. Think Dark shirt, light pants or lights shirt dark indigo or black jeans. Follow this rule to look effortlessly cool.
The perfect addition to your Spring wardrobe is the denim dress. This one stop shop can be dressed up with heels, worn with tan ankle boots for a fabulously bohemian vibe or thrown on with sneakers for coffee with girlfriends. An easy must have purchase.
Now this has been purposefully left to last as this is the most versatile denim item to live in your wardrobe. If you don’t own one – run don’t walk and get one to add to your wardrobe. It’s a game changer. This jean jacket has the magic ability to dress anything down; think smart black pants, heels and a white shirt or why not try throwing over an evening dress – seriously – it’s the bomb!
